Captain — Sussex, OSSEX JUSTICE team (Saumur sector).

Pierre Jean Fauroux was born on 18 March 1921 in Saint-Girons (Ariège). After secondary school at the lycée in Foix, he prepared for the Saint-Cyr entrance exam in Toulouse, then made his way to North Africa.

On 30 June 1943, he escaped from France via Spain. He then joined the 4th RTM in Taza (Morocco), and later Algiers, where he enlisted with the BCRA on 2 December 1943 for a clandestine mission.

Sussex mission — OSSEX JUSTICE (Saumur sector)

He received full training (OSS / SIS), supplemented by parachute training at Ringway. The operational mission was due to begin on 11 May 1944 from Tempsford (RAF special missions base), but a first departure was cancelled mid-flight. The team later set out again and reached the operational area; from July 1944, it organised itself in the Montsoreau / Saumur region and established its intelligence network.

OSS assessment (summary): one of the most effective teams, combining rapid set-up with strong operational efficiency.

Second mission — DGER (Indochina / Laos, 1945–1946)

Pierre Jean Fauroux carried out a second clandestine mission in Laos (under Japanese occupation), then joined Calcutta. He was posted to Saigon in the documentation service, and later received a Division-level citation (Admiral d’Argenlieu, High Commissioner for Indochina).

Return to civilian life (1947–1952)

After the war, he pursued a civilian career, notably in the pharmaceutical field. He completed pharmacy studies (degree obtained in March 1963) and worked in a range of roles and temporary replacements.
