Biography
Paul SAUTIERE
Paul SAUTIERE was born on 15 February 1918 in Compiègne (Oise). He volunteered for the French Navy in December 1935, with various postings until December 1943, when he was seconded to the Admiralty in Algiers.
In late December 1943, volunteering to carry out missions in occupied France, and after completing—like his comrades—the Sussex agent training at the joint MI6 and OSS school in St Albans, he was parachuted by the Carpetbaggers as part of mission “Marbot” near Rochefort-sur-Loire on the night of 1 June 1944.
At the end of this mission, he left for the Far East in April 1945; in July of the same year he was in Calcutta on behalf of the DGER. He carried out many other missions until November 1946 in South Vietnam and Cambodia.
From 1948 to 1950, he worked as a radio-telegraph operator for Air France.
From 1950 to 1983, he served as a communications controller at the DGER, where he headed several overseas postings: Tehran, Phnom Penh, Algiers.
In March 1983, he took a well-deserved retirement.
